18A- Create a Customer Avatar

My customer avatar is a working class woman in her mid-30's.  In the mornings she wakes up still feeling tired, but knows that she can't get back in bed.  The first thing she does is start the coffee maker, and then she goes and wakes her two elementary school-age kids up.  They have thirty minutes before they have to leave the house.  Breakfast is anything that can be put in the microwave. Her kids never move fast in the morning, so she has to make sure they stay focused on getting ready.  She has to brush her daughter's hair, and make sure her son has brushed his teeth.  After another whirlwind morning, she puts her kids in the back seat of her 2010 red Kia Sportage (in their booster seats with their seat belts on of course).  She drives thirty minutes across town to get them to school just in time, then another thirty to get to work.  She spends her first few minutes at work getting in the right headspace.  She looks at the news, not because it's particularly interesting to her, but so she will have something to talk to her co-workers about.  She checks her stocks she invested so her kids could go to college.  She confirms her doctors appointment tomorrow, and texts an old friend she doesn't keep up with enough.  She works hard at her job.  She doesn't always like it, it's hard, and sometimes frustrating.  Most days though, she's happy there.  She gets an hour for lunch, and likes to spend it alone, because she rarely ever gets any time for herself.  She will either bring something from home, or go to her favorite little local restaurant a block from her office building.  After she eats, she reads for the rest of her break.  Her favorite author is Stephen King.  She gets off an hour early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so she goes and works out at the YMCA on those days.  She likes to create her own work outs, but will go to spin class with some of her friends occasionally.  From here, she goes straight to the school to pick up her kids.  This is her favorite part of the day, getting to hear about what her kids did.  Her husband gets home an hour after her and the kids.  She spends this time making dinner for everyone.  After dinner, she and her husband spend some time playing with the kids in the yard.  After that, its their bed time, and they spend some time getting them ready for bed.  She and her husband usually settle down and watch something on TV.  They really like The Voice, but a movie on Netflix doesn't sound bad either.  They talk about the vacation they're taking this summer.  They talk about any troubles they're having at work.  They talk about the kids.  By ten or eleven she's feeling exhausted, and knows that she better get to bed or she'll be tired the nextmorning.


Overall, my customer avatar and I don't have a whole lot in common.  My life is very different than hers, but honestly, her life doesn't sound bad at all.  We have some similar interests- such as Netflix and Stephen King.  In general though, her life is a lot busier, and a lot more established than mine.
